Whew...

08.24.2009

Just a quick update of what's going on here...

Andrew is obsessed with the cartoon Word World and has been for many, many months. I think he asks to watch it at least 100 times a day and does not like it if he has to wait. He also likes Thomas and Friends and if any of you have ever watched it, you know it's not the most exciting cartoon to watch. So, some days may be very fun for Andrew, but not so fun for Mommy. I actually look forward to hearing about the status of our economy and local crimes on the news.

Megan loves her bouncy seat and is starting to have her own little personality. She enjoys being close to people but has no problem being a little independent and entertaining herself. She's not terribly fond of her car seat and has just been introduced to her swing. She seems to like that too. Her sleep pattern has changed over the last few nights. She was typically waking every 3 hours but for the last 3 nights she's slept 6 hours at a time! What a treat for Mommy!

Here are a few recent pictures:

Birthday Fun

08.19.2009

Today is my birthday. William and I went to dinner and a movie last night. It was the first time I left Megan. I miss my kiddos so much when I'm not with them, but I did enjoy a date night with William.

I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my kids. Nothing makes me happier than seeing them happy. So, we headed to Hendersonville to the Hands On! Museum. Andrew had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed watching him play. We plan to go back again sometime soon.

Megan at One Month

Megan went for her 1-month checkup on Monday. She now weighs 8 pounds and 3 ounces, and measures 20.5 inches long. Her head circumference is 14.75 inches. Her head is in the 50th percentile while her height is in the 25th. Her weight is just under the 25% mark. Everything looked good and the doctor said she's very healthy.

At 1 Month, Megan...
  • Can lift her head and move it from side to side

  • Loves bright lights

  • Focuses on the person holding her and loves to be talked to

  • Has a beautiful smile

  • Does not like tummy time but will tolerate it for a few seconds at a time

  • Makes chipmunk noises

  • Never fails to let you know when it's time to eat

  • Loves her big brother, and he adores her too!

  • Kicks her feet and waves her arms when playing

  • Moves herself all over the bassinet and gets mad when she hits the side (it will be time for the crib soon!)

  • Grasps objects for short periods

  • Wraps her little finger around your finger and squeezes

My most favorite thing right now is to feel Megan's breath on my skin. She smells so sweet and is so very precious. And I have great joy every time I see Andrew want to love her and help take care of her. He's a great big brother and is such a sweetheart himself. I am very blessed to have the kids I do and love them more than anything else.

Local Heroes

08.01.2009

I feel very fortunate to live in the Fairview community. One reason is that I feel like our local VFD is one of the best around. Andrew and Megan's Uncle Tommy and Uncle Chubb are career firefighters and today their station celebrated 50 years of protecting citizens like me. I am so thankful for local heroes.

We took Andrew and Megan to the anniversary festivities. There was free food, demonstrations, a big bouncy slide (too big for Andrew), and lots of fun things to see. Megan, of course, was most interested in the lights and her bottle, but Andrew really enjoyed the people, getting to run around a little, and just being outside.
