Happy Birthday Jackson!

01.28.09

Last Saturday, we took Andrew to a birthday party at High Flight Gymnastics. The party was for my friend Heather's little boy, Jackson. He turned two!

Andrew had a good time running all over the place. He liked the foam pit and loved the slide. He also like exploring the areas not meant for him to explore - no big surprise there!

I had a hard time getting any pictures that weren't blurry because the kid just wouldn't stay still. But here a few of the better shots I managed to get...

Today's Doctor's Appointment

01.21.09

I went for my check-up today. Everything went well. I've lost 6 more pounds, so I've lost 12 pounds so far. My blood pressure was good and the results from my blood tests were good. The baby was moving around so much it was hard to get a good read on the heartbeat but it finally settled down so we could hear it.

I go back February 13 for an ultrasound. If all goes well we'll be able to find out if it's a boy or girl. I'll be happy either way. I love the idea of having a girl but I wouldn't be disappointed at all with another boy.

And my attempt to get Andrew's hair cut today failed. I could tell that the girl who was to cut his hair didn't want to so when he resisted, she politely refused. I really need to find somewhere to take him so he can get used to the same person cutting his hair all the time but I haven't a clue where that might be!

Snow Day

01.20.09

So, I get up this morning and see the sun beating down on the blanket of snow covering our yard and decide to take Andrew out first thing in the hopes of getting a few good pictures. I have no pictures of Andrew in the snow as he was sick during his first real snow.
But things did not go as planned. You see, Andrew is very strong-willed and this morning his will told him to REFUSE to put on his snow boots or any other shoe that would be warm and waterproof. And this resistance came in the form of screams, grunts and near-violent temper tantrums. I'd put ths boots on, he'd have a fit and jerk them off. After a couple more tries and a few failed bribery attempts, Andrew took his boots put them back in the box and slammed the lid on them.
We didn't make it out into the snow so I've missed another photo opportunity. But, I did get a photo of him looking at the snow through the window. Exciting, huh?
PS - Andrew's getting a haircut tomorrow...

14 Weeks - A Quick Update

01.10.09

I'll be 14 weeks pregnant on Sunday. The last couple of weeks have been pretty rough. I've had a lot of morning sickness and fatigue. The last two days have been much better and I'm hoping I've finally reached a turning point.

My next doctor's appointment in January 21. It's a regular check-up, which means we'll check my weight and the baby's heartbeat. When I went for my appointment at the end of December, I had lost 6 pounds and the heartbeat was 160 beats per minute.

William's back at work now. The adjustment has been easier than I thought it would be. Andrew and I were very spoiled to having him home for a few weeks.

Andrew is wonderful. He's talking all the time and repeats most everything he hears. He's obsessed with the alphabet and loves to tell me what each letter is on his blocks and flash cards. He's so proud of himself - and I'm proud of him too!

Happy New Year!

01.01.2009

I have never been a fan of New Year's resolutions because I've never known anyone who made one they were actually able to keep. So, this year I'm vowing to give up canoeing, mountain hiking and sushi. This will be easy as I have no real interest in any of these things! But seriously, I do have a few thoughts on what I'd like the new year to bring...

1. Be more organized. I don't know any mother who doesn't feel this way. Well, my friend Heather might not. She's the most organized person I know.

2. Take more pictures that include William and I together, as well as me with Andrew. You'll probably never see these, but I'd like to have them so Andrew will know I was around in the years he can't remember!

3. Develop a routine that will allow me to take care of everything I need to each week. This idea is mostly devoted to housework. Maybe if I was more organized this would take care of itself?

4. Read more to Andrew. He hates to sit still but I miss sharing this with him, so I'm hoping we can get back into the habit of reading time.

I'm sure there are several other things I could list, but there's no need to overdo it.

William hasn't made any resolutions - none that I know of anyway. And I really don't know any I would choose for him.

Andrew, on the other hand, does have a few resolutions - though he doesn't know it yet! Within the next six months, he will be completely potty trained and in his big boy bed. I'm sure we could have already made these transitions but I've selfishly tried to keep my baby as long as possible.
