Around and Around We Go

02.26.09

Things have been pretty quiet this week. William's been working days and Andrew and I have really enjoyed having him home at night. When Daddy's around, there's no need for Mommy - which Andrew makes very clear when he pushes me out of the room!

Andrew's learning to sing E-I-E-I-O and loves it. His favorite part is when the cow goes moooo. He also loves when the sun comes out over the Itsy Bitsy Spider. I'm also proud that he's very interested in his books again though I do wish he's pick a new favorite. I'm rather tired of reading about Bendon Bear and his animal friends. We've also started a game at night where we count with his stuffed animals. He thinks that's a lot of fun. I can really see his imagination growing. Last night he was feeding a stuffed bear his juice. He loves to play cook when I'm in the kitchen (which seems to be all the time...) and a couple of days ago he decided he was a puppy who liked to jump around on all fours and bark like crazy!

The baby is moving around a lot these days. He/she seems most active just before lunch and at bedtime. I've probably said this before, but this pregnancy is so different than my first I can't help but think this might be a girl. I'll be thrilled either way. I'd love to have a little girl to bond with and, of course, dress up. But I'd love to see Andrew with a little brother to pal around with - he's going to be a great big brother!

Andrew still loves to ride his Thomas the Train. We've moved it from the den to the kitchen and cut down on the size of the track, but he doesn't seem to mind. Here are a couple pictures of yesterday's first morning ride.

Yesterday's Doctor Appointment

02.14.09

Well, yesterday was the big day - the day we were to find out if we're having a boy or girl. But, as luck would have it, our little one had it's legs straight up and held tightly together. We did see the brain, face, femur, finger and toes, and heard the heartbeat that is now 130 beats per minute, a little slower than our first ultrasound that indicated a rate of 160.

So, we'll have another ultrasound on March 17. Actually, we're going to have an ultrasound each month for the remainder of the pregnancy. Since I loose weight when I'm pregnant, it's hard to get a good measurement on how big the baby is otherwise.

I do have what is known as Placenta Previa which basically means my placenta is unusually close to my cervix. If the placenta were to fully cover the cervix, the worst side effect would be that it might be difficult to stop any bleeding during and after delivery. What I have is called Marginal Placenta Previa which means it's barely touching the cervix and it's very possible that as the baby grows the placenta will reposition and they'll be no more previa and no reason to worry. My doctor assures me there is no reason to worry now as this is extremely common, just something they want to keep an eye on.

Other that that, everything checked out great - no weight gain and great blood pressure. And last month I had a blood test where they checked for down syndrome, spinal bifida, and a couple of disorders and all tested negative - so yeah for that!

Here are a few pictures from the ultrasound and a recent picture of Andrew follows. He finally had his hair cut!

Enjoying Some Warm Weather - Finally!

02.08.09

After church, Grandpa, Nana and I took Andrew to the park in Lake Lure. He had so much fun running all over the place. There were lots of people there. After some climbing, sliding, swinging and kicking in the sand, he took off to the basketball courts where he managed to steal balls and interrupt games. But man was he cute doing it! After an attempt to take a sippy cup away from a baby, we called it a day. We were all exhausted.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a camera with us today so I can't share any pictures with you. But hopefully we'll be able to take another trip to the park soon.

I do, however, have a few new pictures I can share. The first couple are of my sleeping angel at nap time. The last, Andrew helping himself to a snack. He gets into everything and has learned to take the lids off most anything. So, when he opened his favorite peanut butter but couldn't find a spoon, he improvised with an ice cream scoop!
